PACITA (Parliaments and civil society in Technology Assessment) has been a four-year EU financed project under FP7 aimed at increasing the capacity and enhancing the institutional foundation for knowledge-based policy-making on issues involving science, technology and innovation, mainly based upon the diversity of practices in Parliamentary Technology Assessment (PTA). The key practices in focus have been interactive in the sense that they engaged science, civil society organizations, stakeholders, citizens, parliaments and/or governments directly in the activities in order to activate different kinds of knowledge, engage the actors, create common ownership to the results and enhance the communication between the societal actors.

International audience Since 1995, in the framework of the Pan-European process of Ministerial Conferences on the Protection of Forests in Europe, every five years France establishes sustainable management indicators for forests in metropolitan France. The four successive publications now available provide information, according to the six criteria for sustainable forest management formulated in Helsinki in 1993, on developments over time in the state of French forests and the activities they generate. They also give rise to questions about the extent to which this follow-up meet the needs of forests in the area of public policies, including the fight against the greenhouse effect and adaptation to climate change. In addition, they suggest improvements for the short, medium and long term aimed at enhancing the switch from a statistical description to a strategic vision, as well as harmonisation and coherence of information, and extending the legal, political, institutional and geographic scope of sustainable forest management indicators. ; Depuis 1995, dans le cadre du processus paneuropéen des conférences ministérielles pour la protection des forêts en Europe, la France établit tous les cinq ans des indicateurs de gestion durable pour les forêts françaises métropolitaines. Summary The practices of making home such as cooking, constructing and informally connecting to services are an essential part of women's daily lives in informal settlements in Viña del Mar, Chile. Women's practices and speeches around 'home', however, are a poorly researched topic that can provide valuable information to analyse gender relationships in socio-spatial production of the informal habitat. Through an ethnographic approach, using visual and participatory methods, the article presents empirical data produced in the two largest informal settlements in Chile. The results show that practices are not only survival strategies, but are intrinsically political. The article provides a three-dimensional analytical framework that classifies homelessness practices into home building, maintenance and planning practices. With a commitment to gender and urban justice, the article's analytical and methodological approach contributes to the recognition of women's efforts in the fight for housing in Chile. ; Resumen Las prácticas de hacer hogar tales como cocinar, construir y conectarse informalmente a los servicios son parte fundamental de la vida cotidiana de las mujeres en los asentamientos informales en Viña del Mar, Chile. The article demonstrates how Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) geographic headings for the Southern Levant mirror the political investment of Congress and the American public in Middle East politics over the last thirty years. The headings' evolution as well as Library of Congress rules governing their creation is charted in detail. These LCSH headings contrast markedly with those established in other national libraries (BnF, DNB) and independent value vocabularies (TGN, GeoNames), and global opinion regarding the legal status of the occupied territories. I sketch the historical context of their formation and offer suggestions as to how libraries can "decolonize" their metadata in service of Sanford Berman's "access and equity."

Summary: Personal identification has forced individuals to have multiple passwords, tokens and personal identification numbers or documents, which have proved not to be the most suitable for online activities. Biometric technologies have offered efficient forms of identification and validation, but have also proved to be unsafe in the face of possible transgressions or misuse by controllers. While there is legislation to regulate this information, it is still limited. With the new European General Data Protection Regulation, the protection of biometric data is expected to be extended to all countries, so that current security, privacy and human rights risks and challenges are mitigated. ; Resumen: La identificación personal ha obligado a los individuos a tener múltiples contraseñas, tokens y números o documentos personales de identificación, que han resultado no ser lo más adecuado para actividades en línea. International audience The subsidiarity principle governing the collection of statistical data in the EMU may cause asymmetrical information. The national governments may be tempted to distort their economic and financial data communicated to ECB in order to influence its monetary policy decisions. We base our analysis on a static Keynesian model in a closed monetary Union and we prove that the governments' incentives to modify their private information depend mainly on the nature of the asymmetrical information between the Union's policy-makers, on the degree of monetary activism and on the extent of structural heterogeneity between the Union's members.

The aim of this work is to investigate some of the characteristics of graduates in the Faculty of Economics of the UNLP: completed by career, length of career, age of entry and exit, sex, etc. The first part explains the methodology used, the second section shows the most important results and then sets out the conclusions of the work. This study examined whether adolescents' perceptions and reactions to parental regulation were predicted by parents' communication style and by adolescents' self-determination. Adolescents (N = 294; Mage = 14.3) reported their self determination, and then read a hypothetical scenario of parental regulation of their academic behavior, whereby parents' communication style was either autonomy-supportive or psychologically controlling. Following the scenario, adolescents reported their perceptions of the situation (i.e., autonomy satisfaction, autonomy frustration, legitimacy) and their anticipated responses (i.e., oppositional defiance, negotiation). In response to psychological control, adolescents reported less autonomy satisfaction, more autonomy frustration, less legitimacy, and more defiance. Further, adolescents higher in self-determination reported less autonomy frustration, more legitimacy, less defiance, and more negotiation. Finally, self-determination moderated two effects of communication style: adolescents low on self-determination reported less legitimacy and more defiance in response to the psychologically controlling (vs. autonomy-supportive) situation. For adolescents high on self determination, these between-vignette differences were not significant.

he aim of this research is to examine the impact of three audit committee characteristics on corporate social and environmental responsibility (CSR) disclosure: the existence of an audit committee, audit committee independence, and audit committee financial expertise. Moreover, this research analyzes the moderating effect of board gender diversity between these audit committees' attributes and CSR reporting. The results of analyzing 13,178 firm-year observations of non-financial companies show that the presence of an audit committee and audit committee financial expertise are positively associated with CSR disclosure. However, a higher proportion of non-executive directors in audit committees has a negative effect on the disclosure of CSR information. These findings suggest that some audit committees' features play an important role in ensuring the reporting of environmental, social, and economic information. Our evidence also indicates that the presence of female directors on boards increases the positive impact of financial expert membership of audit committees on CSR disclosure, while women directors moderate any negative effect of the percentage of independent directors on audit committees on CSR reporting by increasing the latter. In addition, female directors moderate the positive impact of the existence of an audit committee on the disclosure of CSR information by reducing the latter.
