La mejor manera de conocer e incluso controlar nuestra vida es investigar. La investigación produce conocimiento basado en datos que nos permite tomar decisiones más razonables, averiguar qué sucede más allá de nuestros ojos y tratar de predecir qué sucederá en el futuro. Por todo ello merece la pena investigar. La investigación requiere tiempo, recursos humanos y materiales, y sobre todo conocer el proceso de cómo se lleva a cabo una investigación. La investigación es un proceso destinado a resolver inquietudes a partir de la recolección y análisis de datos. El origen de toda investigación está en el problema o asunto. El problema (también llamado asunto para no tener siempre una connotación negativa) es una situación concisa, relevante y contextualizada que interesa investigar. La pregunta de investigación es aquello que queremos averiguar sobre el problema y es la fase más relevante de una investigación ya que responderla será el objetivo o meta a conseguir. La pregunta de investigación se lograr tras la consulta de bibliografía sobre el tema, la discusión con expertos en la materia, la observación crítica de la realidad directa y la charla con actores implicados.

"In diesem Beitrag befasse ich mich mit der Unterscheidung zwischen quantitativer und qualitativer Forschung sowie mit Debatten, die mit dieser Unterscheidung einhergehen. Ich diskutiere dabei zunächst Vorschläge, die 1. beide Methodengruppen für komplementär halten, 2. die Grenzziehung als künstlich befinden, nach denen 3. erforderlich ist, zwischen epistemologischen Voraussetzungen sowie einer (un-)kritischen Methodennutzung zu differenzieren oder die 4. Angriffe gegen positivistische Orientierungen als nicht erforderlich erachten, da qualitative Methoden bereits in vielen Kontexten akzeptiert seien. Ausgehend von einer Post-Frankfurter-Schule-Position und von kritischen, lateinamerikanischen Ansätzen versuche ich dann zu zeigen, dass Forschungsprojekte - seien sie eher quantitativ oder eher qualitativ konzipiert - oft einer selbst-zentrierten und tendenziell elitären Vorstellung und Praxis von Sozialwissenschaften folgen: Die die beforscht werden, sind in die Konzeption des Untersuchungsgegenstandes nicht einbezogen und kommen auch nur selten in den Genuß der Ergebnisse der Forschung, an der sie teilhaben. Ich komme zu dem Schluss, dass die vorgenannten Debatten und Unterscheidungen nutzlos und nicht gerechtfertigt sind, auch wenn sie im akademischen Alltag reproduziert und durch akademische Praktiken reifiziert werden und unabhängig davon, ob sie auf sozialen Wandel oder dessen Vermeidung zielen. Am Ende stelle ich Forschungsmethoden vor, u.a. Handlungsforschung und Versuche der Systematisierung von Praktiken, die einer hegemonialen sozialwissenschaftlichen Konzeption und Praxis entgegenstehen." (Autorenreferat)

The present article starts with a quantitative remark of the elevated Colombian expense in defense, one of the highest worldwide in percentage of the GNP. What greatly worries is that most of such expenditure is addressed to the payment of retirement wages in the armed forces, becoming the number one budgeted institution in the country given the excessive increase in troops, a fact that ranks Colombia as the Latin-American country with the second largest army after Brazil. There would be, then, a difference between military success (effectiveness) and increase in troops, since according to government's numbers, the guerillas should be practically terminated, not being the real fact. Two possible explanations for this difference exist: first, demobilization of the paramilitary groups, whose action and combatants reinforced the duty of the military forces; and second, the evidence of extra judiciary executions and the making of false positive hits, all of which would be inflating the figures that intend to show the effectiveness of military actions. ; Este artículo parte de una observación cuantitativa del elevado gasto colombiano en defensa, uno de los más grandes del mundo en su relación porcentual con el PIB. Lo que más preocupa es que gran parte del gasto se destina al pago del pasivo pensional en el sector defensa, el cual resulta ser el más elevado del país dado el desmesurado aumento en el pie de fuerza, un hecho que ubica a Colombia como el segundo país latinoamericano, después de Brasil, con el ejército más grande. Habría, entonces, un desfase entre éxito militar (efectividad) y aumento de pie de fuerza, ya que según las cifras del gobierno, la guerrilla debería estar prácticamente terminada, pero no es el caso. Teleworking or working from home has developed progressively in recent decades. The factors that have most favoured its growth have been the improvement of human capital and telecommunications infrastructures, being crucial aspects for the use of the necessary elements to carry out remote work and the use of the necessary equipment. The advance of globalization and the digitization of the economy has been in line with the increase in this type of work. The situation that occurred as a result of Covid-19 has push forward to increase the use of this type of work. This paper studies the data of work from home or telework in the context of the European Union and its evolution as a consequence of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Differences are observed at the territorial, sectoral, family and educational levels due to the lack of physical and human capital and also to the particular characteristics of each type of activity. ; El teletrabajo o trabajo desde casa se ha desarrollado de forma progresiva en las últimas décadas. Los factores que más han favorecido su crecimiento han sido la mejora del capital humano y de las infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones, siendo aspectos cruciales para el uso de los elementos necesarios para llevar a cabo la actividad laboral de forma remota y con los equipos necesarios para ellos. El avance de la globalización y la digitalización de la economía ha sido parejo con el incremento de este tipo de trabajo. La situación acaecida como consecuencia de la Covid-19 ha supuesto un empuje forzoso al incremento en el uso de esta tipología de trabajo. Este estudio analiza los datos de trabajo desde casa o teletrabajo en el contexto de la Unión Europea y su evolución como consecuencia de la Pandemia Covid-19. Se observan diferencias en el avance a nivel territorial, sectorial, familiar y educativo debido a carencias de capital físico y humano y también a las características particulares de cada tipo de actividad.

Ad oggi numerose resistenze dibattono sull'adozione di schemi di pricing nei centri urbani dalla presunta iniquità, che renderebbero di fatto accessibili i centri urbani soltanto a coloro che possono permettersi di pagare la tariffa di accesso. Ma al contempo l'evoluzione di tecnologie innovative di rilevamento e di infomobilità consentono di ipotizzare un completo ribaltamento dei criteri di tassazione del traffico stradale, dove il carico fiscale potrebbe essere rimodulato in relazione agli effettivi comportamenti di ogni singolo utente. L'obiettivo è stato quello di controllare e limitare la mobilità all'interno di una determinata area urbana attraverso un nuovo modo di concepire le ZTL (Zone a Traffico Limitato). Si è pertanto condotta un'applicazione sul caso studio della città di Palermo che vede l'interazione di un modello di domanda che contempla i modi auto privata, car pooling, car sharing e bus con un modello di offerta attento alle politiche di sostenibilità del sistema di trasporto. L'applicazione prevede la tariffazione della sosta in un area del centro urbano che allo stesso tempo è oggetto di interventi di traffic calming, pedonalizzazione e, soprattutto, di potenziamento del trasporto pubblico e di incentivazione della modalità sharing. Il risultato è la definizione di un piano di tariffazione ottimale che, non precludendo a priori l'uso dell'infrastruttura viaria, riesce a shiftare un'interessante aliquota della domanda di spostamento verso il trasporto pubblico locale.

The aim of this research study is to examine the relationship between pessimist explanatory style and occupational self-efficacy. Also, to assess whether the strength of this relationship varies between Mexico and the United States. A self-administered survey was applied in both countries (Mexico´s n = 282, U.S.A.´s n = 275). Hierarchical linear regression and moderation analysis were employed to test the study hypotheses. The results indicate that pessimist explanatory style has a negative relationship with occupational self-efficacy and that this relationship is more pronounced in the United States than in its southwestern neighbor. On the whole, the findings suggest that unhealthy attributions for negative events have the power to inhibit enactive mastery and, therefore, the development of self-efficacy beliefs in the occupational domain. In addition, national culture could amplify such effect making it more negative in the United States than in Mexico.

La herramienta Personas es una herramienta extendida en el mundo del diseño de producto y el diseño web. En los últimos años nuevas disciplinas como el diseño de servicios y el diseño estratégico han hecho que las herramientas propias del Design Thinking adquieran un nuevo carácter. Así, se considera que la herramienta Personas puede ayudar a políticos y gestores de los sistemas de salud en el diseño de nuevas políticas sociales y nuevos servicios sanitarios que mejoren la calidad de vida de una sociedad envejecida. La diversidad existente en la sociedad, hace necesarias nuevas herramientas que simplifiquen y soporten la toma de decisiones en datos cuantitativos. En este estudio se propone un nuevo modelo de Personas cuantitativo que se alimenta de estadísticas existentes sobre dependencia y sobre personas mayores. En primer lugar, se analizan distintos métodos de análisis estadístico que pueden ayudar en la identificación de segmentos de población. De esta forma, se seleccionan los métodos más adecuados al ámbito de aplicación. Finalmente, se propone un método de creación de perfiles de Personas a partir de dichos segmentos y se generan perfiles preliminares. En futuros trabajos se contrastarán dichos perfiles con profesionales de la política y de la salud. ; Personas is an extended tool in the area of product design and web design. In recent years new disciplines such as service design and strategic design have made the tools of Design Thinking acquire a new character. Thus, it is considered that Personas can help policy makers and managers of healthcare systems in the design of new social policies and new health services that improve the quality of life of an aging society. The diversity existing in society, makes necessary new tools that simplify and support decision making in quantitative data. In this study, a new model of Quantitative Personas is proposed. This tool will be based on existing statistics on dependence and on elderly people. First, different methods of statistical analysis that can help in the identification of population segments are analyzed. In this way, the most appropriate methods are selected for the scope of application. Finally, a method of creating profiles of Personas from these segments is proposed and preliminary profiles are generated. Profiles will be contrasted with professionals in politics and health in future works.
