This paper aims to awaken the consciousness of the government and its people towards the importance of the noble values of Pancasila to be implemented in each aspect of life in a nation-state. The dichotomous inspection and public service in Immigration Border Control has undergone inexhaustible which, eventually, putting border controllers into a dilemma when the roles and responsibilities of border control officials as a document examiner or public servant are separated. Many immigration officials in the border are losing the public service spirit and, at the same time, bringing down the sacred meaning of public service. This phenomenon has contributed to the misbehavior and bad decision making which directly impacts the society as service users. Pancasila, as Indonesian ideology, becomes the anti-thesis of positivist/modernist paradigm. It is expected that the spirit of public service by TEGAS will be an alternative solution in the midst of increasingly high public demand for a better border control management.

The relevance of this topic is due to the lack of study of the history of the formation of two mutually exclusive concepts of God, tanzih akyda (impropriety) and tashbih akyda (likening God to created) and the influence of this process on the formation and development of the Hanbali madhhab in Russian history and religious studies. The influence of Israiliyat, individual stories and beliefs inherent in some Jewish and Christian sects on the formation of the teachings of anthropomorphic sects is also noted. In this regard, the special role of neophytes, who formally accepted Islam and actively introduced Israelism, was noted. This applies primarily to Kab al-Akhbar and Wahb Ibn Munabbih. The subject of the study is tanzih akida and tashbih akida, the influence of Israiliyat on its formation and its role in the history of the Hanbali madhhab. Due to the fact that our research is primarily of a philosophical and religious nature, we applied research methods adopted in these Humanities. As a result, we studied the processes of influence of Israiliyat on the formation of tashbih akyda and came to the conclusion that it had a great impact on the formation of the Hanbali madhhab and the historical features of its development. Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbali, the eponym of Hanbali madhhab, held the aqida of unlikening God to created, but some of his disciples, who were followers of some anthropomorphistic sects, brought tasbih aqida mazhab, which was formed largely under the influence of Israiliyat. This has led to the fact that for many centuries, under the name of Hanbali madhhab, researchers unite two groups of people who profess a diametrically opposite concept of God. This research occupies an important place in religious studies, history and philosophy, because it reveals new aspects of the formation and historical development of this madhhab. There is also shown the Israiliyat influence on the formation of tasbih aqida and religious-philosophical doctrine, which at the turn of XIII – XIV centuries was preached by a famous religious figure from Syria – Ahmad Ibn Taymiyah, known for having the key influence on the formation of the Wahhabi sect in Arabia. The scope of the research results includes: theoretical development of courses and textbooks on the history of Islam, Islamic theology and sectarianism, etc. Practical application of the research results is possible in the development of methods for resolving religious and political conflicts of modern times, mainly between Sunnis and Shiites, as our research helps to understand the origins of their appearance and the formation of religious and political differences.Key words: Islam, Muslim, Israiliyat, tanzih aqida, tasbih aqida, Kab al-Ahbar, Wahb Ibn Munabbih, Hanbali madhhab, Ahmad Ibn Imam Hanbali, Ibn al-jawzi, the history of Baghdad ; "Kim and Zoh bring together a team of contributors to analyse the role of heritage studies across Asia, and its impact on Asia and its constituent countries. Is there such a thing as 'Asian heritage'? Is it more helpful to understand Asia as a single unit, or as a set of sub-regions? What can we learn about Asia's present through its archaeology and heritage? Covering a wide range of countries, including Afghanistan, Cambodia, China, Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, the contributors to this book address these key questions. In doing so they look at a number of critical issues, such as UNESCO World Heritage status, cultural propaganda, cultural erasure and difficult heritage. While addressing Asia's past they also observe key issues within present-day Asia, further providing conceptual and practical insights into the methods that are being applied to the study of Asia's heritage today. A valuable resource for scholars and students of Asian history and culture, archaeology, heritage studies, anthropology and religious studies."

"While skepticism about the role of moral considerations in international politics has been influential within the discipline of international relations (IR), those writing on topics such as war, peace, rights and trade up until the twentieth century took seriously the importance of ethical values and moral debates. The 1990s and 2000s have seen a substantial growth of attention to the ways in which IR conceives and analyzes themes of an ethical nature, and how issues, problems and policies involving ethics are addressed by a variety of actors within the international system. This indispensable research companion widens the perspective from 'ethics and international relations' to 'ethics in international relations', redressing the (mis)perception that ethical concepts, principles, norms and rules are not in part constitutive of the international system and the agents acting within that system. Necessarily cross-disciplinary, expertise is drawn from IR and also philosophy, political theory, religious studies, history and law, making this an ideal volume for any library reference collection."--Publisher's description
What makes for a good scientist or a good engineer? How does using a new technology or working in a research lab begin to shape our thought and behavior? How can we best anticipate and navigate the ethical dilemmas created by modern scientific research and technology? Scholars across multiple disciplines have begun turning to a surprising resource to address these questions: discussions of virtue that have their roots in ancient philosophical and religious traditions. This volume gathers a number of these perspectives to show how concepts of virtue can help us better understand, construct, and use the fruits of modern science and technology.

This dissertation is a study of Soviet atheist education and socialist life-cycle rituals in the postwar period. The narrative follows two distinct, yet overlapping, life-cycles: that of Marxist-Leninist scientific atheism, as it attempted to transform religiosity and fill the space that had been occupied by religion with a distinctly Soviet spiritual content, and that of Soviet citizens, whose lives were ordered and made meaningful by Soviet beliefs and rituals. By analyzing the efforts of the Soviet Party-State to fulfill the administrative, psychological, and philosophical functions inherited from religious institutions, I examine the resurgence of interest in atheism and rituals and analyze why, despite its totalizing ideological agenda, the Soviet Union did not introduce socialist rites on a mass scale until the Khrushchev era. I argue that ideologists became ever more aware of the contradictions that revealed themselves when they attempted to transform ideological beliefs and rituals into everyday convictions and practices. As a result, renewed attention to the spiritual lives of the revolution's "human material" became central to interpretations of Marxism-Leninism, as well as to the fate of the Soviet political experiment. On a broader scale, my work investigates the significance and functions of private rituals in modern society, and evaluates the state's ability to direct this aspect of individual and social life.
This book explores how personalized content and the inherent networked nature of the mobile media could and do lead to positive externalities in social progress in Asian societies. Empirical studies that examine uses of the mobile phone and apps (voice mailing, SMS, mobile social media, mobile Weibo, mobile WeChat, etc.) are featured as a response to calls for theorization of the mobile media's efficacy as a tool for citizen engagement and participation in civic and political affairs, especially in the search for collective solutions to widespread social problems of food safety, pollution, government corruption, and public health risks. Considering the vast cultural diversity of Asian societies that are shaped by different levels of political, social, economic, and religious development, the book offers nuanced studies that provide in-depth analysis of the mobile media and political communication in a variety of communities of leading Asian countries. From the country-specific studies, broad themes and enduring concepts emerge.
Explores political and social factors related to linguistic minorities, threat of language extinction, and Article 22 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights stating that the European Union "shall respect cultural, religious and linguistic diversity".
