The political clash in the aftermath of the 1981 Nigerian general strike
In: Review of African political economy, Heft 25, S. 104-112
ISSN: 0305-6244
The paper details the disputes among different parts of the "political class", politicians, business executives and top civil servants, around the level of the new minimum wage, around the question of trade union organisation and labour legislation in general, and around the fringe benefits and salary increases for the middle and higher echelons of public service. In the author's view all these issues only express the surface of the political and e conomic crisis that affects Nigeria. (DÜI-Hns)
