; The universal basic income is a controversial model of social reform, in which all citizens are to receive unconditionally a sum of money from the state which is sufficient to cover basic needs and is financed by taxes. This master's thesis aims to provide an overview of the debate on the universal basic income by discussing arguments for and against it. In the first part of the thesis, the scientific literature on the subject will be reviewed. The debate on the universal basic income is on a factual and an ideological level. On the factual level, it is discussed whether and how the universal basic income can be financed and whether the effects of its introduction, such as the supposed decline in work performance, would be acceptable to society. On the ideological level, there is a discussion of whether the concept of UBI is fair and whether its introduction would actually improve people's lives. There have already been some attempts to try out basic income models in practice, for example in the USA or more recently in Finland, but none of these experiments have been carried out over longer periods of time. In the empirical part of the study, I investigate in which ways the public opinion about basic income differs between selected EU member states, using data from an international survey. For this analysis, Austria, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland and Spain were selected. Also, the impact of socio-demographic factors on attitudes, knowledge and arguments concerning the basic income is examined. There seems to be a positive correlation between the presence of the debate in a country and the public support for the UBI. In countries where people are well acquainted with the UBI, such as Finland, support tends to be higher. Another influencing factor is probably the socio-political framework of the countries. There is some evidence that real experience with the UBI, like the experiment in Finland, leads to positive attitudes towards UBI. The relatively strong opposition to the UBI in Denmark is probably related to the fact that in this country social benefits are closely linked to gainful employment.

The globalization of the markets is not only a challenge for large companies. Small and medium-sized companies are also becoming more involved in new markets more than assumed and statistically recorded. They are required to position themselves more strongly on foreign markets due to increased competitive pressure, insufficient potential on the domestic market and narrower fields of market activity. Small and medium-sized companies are only exposed to minimal obligations under commercial law. This is due to their size, the organizational form and the lack of reference to the capital market. Since the annual balance sheet is often created with the aim of tax directives, there is only limited adequate reflection on the business profitability of the organization. A detailed internal cost accounting only exists in exceptional cases and cost monitoring is only carried out on the basis of historical data and not on a planned cost basis. This paper deals with a concrete practical question from the topic of controlling and the analysis of an existing company based on the organization's financial documents. On the basis of the results and statements available, the objective of this paper is to develop recommendations for action for the supervisory board and then to discuss and evaluate them accordingly.

; With the Ancillary Budget Act of December 2010, the Disabled Persons Employment Act (German abbreviation: BEinstG) was simultaneously revised. In doing so, the legislator set a goal of creating new incentives for an increased employment of disabled persons receiving preferential treatment. Significant changes were made, principally in the sphere of special dismissal protection. Protection against dismissal shall only become effective four years after the conclusion of the employment relationship. Employees that already belong to the circle of favoured disabled persons at the time at which the employment relationship is concluded are however affected by the "new" four year period. Should favoured disabled status be established in the course of a valid employment relationship, the old legal position with the six month waiting period shall, in this case, continue to be applied. The diploma thesis furthermore addresses the latest judicature concerning the waiver of favoured status, including an appraisal of the consequences for the special dismissal protection associated with this. In a further reform, the Federal Social Welfare Offices were obligated to offer a crisis intervention proceedings prior to the carrying out of a dismissal proceedings. It is, however, unclear in this context how such a crisis intervention proceedings prior to the carrying out of a dismissal proceedings for a disabled person could look like. The legislator granted the Federal Social Welfare Offices freedom of action to as great an extent as possible. The aim of the diploma thesis is to provide an answer to the question whether an increased level of employment of disabled persons receiving preferential treatment will be achieved through the revision of the BEinstG. ; von Martin Moser ; Abweichender Titel laut Übersetzung der Verfasserin/des Verfassers ; Graz, Univ., Dipl.-Arb., 2012 ; (VLID)222086

This paper examines the sensitivity of the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) inventory model to lot size errors when the purchase cost per unit, C, and the replenishment cost per order, A, are both dependent on the amount ordered, Q. A formula for the percentage increase in average annual variable costs due to using a Q‐value different from Q is derived, and is shown to be the same as that for the simple EOQ and backorders model.
