Interfaith dialogue has not gained a strategic place in the context of the study of international relations yet, even though its existence has practically provided new dynamics in the constellation of contemporary international relations. Not only that, interfaith dialogue also has sufficient theoretical urgency as a academics study that needs to be continuously developed. The debate between realism and idealism continues to develop in contemporary international relations studies. This development is influenced by the expansion of the meaning of actors who not only talk about state actors but also non-state actors, the expansion of the issues was originally focused on hard political issues but also focus to the discussion on low political issues, as well as how the interaction between actors with the religious discussion of these issues has created varied patterns of relations between actors in the study of international relations. This study attempts to place the phenomenon of interfaith dialogue theoretically in the study of international relations through a rational perspective, by seeking a middle ground between the realism and idealism debates. The English School approach, foreign policy, and diplomacy will try to be presented so that the theoretical position of inter-religious dialogue will become clear as a phenomenon that continues to develop in the study of international relations. The importance of this research is to provide the possibility of a wider variety of studies in the context of international relations, so that the existence of international relations as a scientific discipline can be optimized for its contribution to analyzing social phenomena across national borders that occur and growing.

The article examines the current status and of the evolution of the national civic consciousness in modern Russia. Author asserts that this form of identity is based on fairly strong social foundations. Among them are the widespread usage of Russian language which unifies different ethnic groups, stability in the sphere of interfaith relations, and the notion inherent to the majority of citizens that there is no ground for serious inter-ethnic conflicts in the country. At the same time, the development of a national consciousness engenders a number of problems. This form of identity is understood primarily as loyalty to the state. Its deeper spiritual and value foundations have not been sufficiently developed. The feeling of belonging to the all-Russian community is being experienced often mainly at the emotional level, its cognitive component is not clearly expressed. This is due to a number of factors, in particular, the lack of a generally recognized historical narrative in Russia, shared by the entire society. The key events of national history that determined the course of the country's development still evoke various, sometimes opposing assessments. At the same time, there is an acute demand in society for strengthening national unity, the search for ideological principles that unite all citizens of Russia. This request is expressed, in particular, in a high assessment of the Soviet past, when the society had the clearly defined goals and guidelines for the country's development. Such sentiments are characteristic of the population of Russia as whole and of its separate regions. Noting that the ideological evolution of society is far from always accessible to external regulation, the author at the same time emphasizes that state and public leaders, the academic and expert community should make a feasible contribution to solving the problems facing the country.

Introduction. The article examines traditional and recent factors that affect the situation in the geopolitically significant southern Russian region. The reasons for the actualization of socio-political and ethno-confessional conflicts are considered as factors of possible regional destabilization. Methods and materials. Conflictological diagnostics of the regional tension dynamics, as well as the nature and features of situational and long-term risks to regional security and socio-political stability in the South of Russia are based on factor analysis of Rostov region, Krasnodar Krai, and the Republic of Adygea materials. Analysis. By analyzing the statistics, the authors has revealed the presence of such negative processes in these regions as a decrease in the standard of living, a sharp increase in the unemployment rate, an increase in corruption and crime rates, population decrease, which is provoked by the COVID-19 pandemic – the newest factor of regional tension. Results. It is concluded that socio-economic problems against the background of a pandemic crisis may adversely affect the nature of interethnic and interfaith relations. Competition in the labor market, deterioration of the criminal situation, and uncontrolled migration can be considered as factors of conflict. According to the results of the study, it was found that the destabilization factors of the Rostov region regional situation have an endogenous character: demographic (population decrease), economic (deterioration in the socio-economic situation of the population), growth of protest activity and destructive content in the media. For Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Adygea, exogenous factors of regional tension remain relevant: there is a high level of external migration for the region. Authors' contribution. The contribution of M.V. Tarasova in writing the article is to form the research logic, develop methodology and tools, and analyze statistical information in Rostov region. The analysis of the regional situation in Krasnodar Krai and Rostov region was carried out by I.V. Yurchenko, and M.V. Dontsova.
