AbstractThe worldwide problem of corruption is one that requires greater knowledge about responsible leadership. Based on the literature on responsible leadership, developmental psychology, and moral development, the purpose of our study is to understand the constructions of the motivational drivers behind the behaviors of a responsible leader. Using biographical and narrative methodologies, we analyzed the individual motivational drivers of Carlos Cavelier, a recognized responsible leaders who grew up and works in Colombia, a social/economic context characterized by institutional fragility and corruption. Our findings suggest that the coherence between the immediate environments of development of the future leader, configured optimal environments in which the leader developed the moral conscience that guides his behavior as a responsible leader. Our study points out the need not to take the development of responsible leaders for granted, and presents propositions that allow for a deeper understanding of the micro‐foundations of responsible leadership, highlighting the importance of the contexts in which leaders are raised and in which they develop. Thus, our study has the potential to be heuristic and generative of future studies.

La dislocation en tant que dispositif syntaxique se caractérise par la présence d'un syntagme à la périphérie d'une structure phrastique, au sein de laquelle celui-ci conserve généralement une trace sous une forme pronominale. Cette construction, qui connaît de nombreuses variantes, a été décrite aussi bien à l'écrit qu'à l'oral, et tout en étant globalement peu fréquente, est souvent considérée comme caractéristique de l'oral. L'oral ne formant pas un ensemble homogène, la présente étude se propose d'examiner ce phénomène dans un corpus oral échantillonné issu des Enquêtes Sociolinguistiques à Orléans (ESLO). A partir d'un relevé systématique et d'une annotation manuelle de leurs propriétés syntaxiques et pragmatiques, nous cherchons à estimer la distribution des dislocations au sein d'une sélection de contextes interactionnels différents, illustrant les pratiques orales des plus formelles aux plus spontanées, afin de mettre en évidence un effet du contexte interactionnel sur le mode de structuration des énoncés à l'oral. Par ailleurs, notre travail offre des pistes pour l'analyse de l'emploi du format disloqué dans la réalisation des tâches interactionnelles spécifiques comme la préclôture topicale ou les séquences narratives.

The erection of historical monuments is always an extension of national dentity — imagined by the ruling power. The current rehabilitation of Kossuth Square around the Budapest Parliament is intended to recreate its appearance as it was in 1944. The re‐configuration of urban space includes removal and exchange of current monuments and statues, as well as the erection of new ones. I will analyze the case of three statues and monuments that represent distinct events in Hungarian collective memory. The construction of the Memorial of National Unity and the erection of the Memorial for the Victims of the German Occupation are both seemingly attempts to cope with separate and intertwined national traumas, that are still haunting the collective memory. The removal of the Statue of Imre Nagy is also a telling example of the transformation of national identity, and an indication of how the 1956 revolution's status has changed within the nation's collective memory since 1989. These three monuments illustrate the transformation of Hungarian national identity after the system change, and point to possible further changes in the future.

The rolling of a flat figure in the form of an equilateral polygon on a curvilinear profile is considered. The profile is periodic. It is formed by a series connection of an arc of a symmetrical curve. The ends of the arc rely on a circle of a given radius. The equation of the curve, from which the curvilinear profile is constructed, is found. This is done provided that the centre of the polygon, when it rolls in profile, must also move in a circle. Rolling occurs in the absence of sliding. Therefore, the length of the arc of the curve is equal to the length of the side of the polygon. To find the equations of the curve of the profile, a first-order differential equation is constructed. Its analytical solution is obtained. The parametric equations of the curve are obtained in the polar coordinate system. The limits of the change of an angular parameter for the construction of a profile element are found. It is a part of the arc of the curve. According to the obtained equations, curvilinear profiles with different numbers of their elements are constructed.

ObjectiveThis research explores fathers' construction of fathering to expand knowledge on the behavioral, cognitive, and affective domains of father involvement, focusing on middle childhood in ethnic minority families.BackgroundFathers' contributions to children's development and socialization have received increasing attention since the 1970s. Although exploration of ethnic minority fathers has increased, the literature on ethnic and minority fathers is limited because insight into fathers living outside North America continues to be understudied.MethodThis study employed a qualitative methodology from a social constructivist perspective and a bioecological model to contextualize fathering in Afro‐Jamaican families. Phenomenological thematic analysis (PTA) was used, focusing on 24 semistructured interviews from five biological and 19 biological and social Afro‐Jamaican fathers.ResultsUsing Palkovitz's (1997) conceptualization of fathering, including behavioral, affective, and cognitive domains, phenomenological thematic analysis was extended to include the spiritual domain. Furthermore, fathers reported being engaged with their biological and social children in similar ways.ConclusionThese findings highlight the need for researchers to explore both the universal and culturalized aspects of fathering in cultural contexts.ImplicationsFathers should be supported through social policies and program intervention to encourage fathers to be involved in children's lives in multiple ways.

AbstractUnder the background of supply side structural reform of the land market, this paper constructs a location choice behavior model of reduction from the perspective of rent maximization, explores how these factors affect the industrial land reduction location choice. We consider 100 industrial parcels in the suburbs of Shanghai as an example to analyze. It is found that the enterprises in development zones have greater advantages in economies of scale, labor productivity, pollution treatment, and tax payments than enterprises outside the development zone, so the low‐efficiency enterprises outside the development zones are the preferred objects of reduction. The suburban areas have a stronger attraction than the outer suburbs in the process of location choice, and the closer the city center is, the more obvious the location advantages of enterprises in development zones. Under the control of the total amount of construction land, the land use structure should be constantly adjusted, inefficient enterprises outside the development zone should be preferred to the reduction object, and the government should actively guide enterprises to enter the development zones.

PurposeThis paper examines the different features of China's economic development in different stages of economic globalization. The study finds that the investment- and export-based growth model drove China's high-speed economic growth between 2000 and 2007, which came into existence around 2000 when China plugged into the global production network.Design/methodology/approachThis paper also finds that China slowed down to the New Normal because of the disruption to the socio-economic underpinnings of this growth model. As China adapts to and steers the New Normal, supply-side structural reforms can channel excess capacity to the construction of underground pipe networks in rural areas of central China and fix capital while advance rural revitalization.FindingsAt the same time, enterprises must strive to build a key component development platform for key component innovation and the standard-setting power in global manufacturing.Originality/valueThe establishment of a domestic production network integrating the integrated innovation-driven core enterprises and modular producers at different levels can satisfy the dynamic demand structure of China in which standardized demands and personalized demands coexist.

AbstractExtensive construction of dams by humans has caused alterations in flow regimes and concomitant alterations in river ecosystems. Even so, bacterioplankton diversity in large rivers influenced by cascade dams has been largely ignored. In this study, bacterial community diversity and profiles of seven cascade dams along the720 km of the Lancang River were studied using Illumina sequencing of the V3-V4 hypervariable region of the 16S rRNA gene. Spatiotemporal variations of bacterial communities in sediment and water of the Gongguoqiao hydroelectric dam and factors affecting these variations were also examined. Microbial diversity and richness in surface water increased slightly from upstream toward downstream along the river. A significant positive correlation between spatial distance and dissimilarities in bacterial community structure was confirmed (Mantel test, r = 0.4826, p = 0.001). At the Gongguoqiao hydroelectric dam, temporal differences in water overwhelmed spatial variability in bacterial communities. Temperature, precipitation, and nutrient levels were major drivers of seasonal microbial changes. Most functional groups associated with carbon cycling in sediment samples decreased from winter to summer. Our findings improve our understanding of associations, compositions, and predicted functional profiles of microbial communities in a large riverine ecosystem influenced by multiple cascade dams.

The article contains an analysis of the principles of decor and the peculiarity of the artistic style of ornamental notches with metal on wood - one of the most significant types of crafts in Dagestan. The sources and stages of development of this type of craft to the level of professional art are traced. On the example of the work of the national artist of the Russian Federation, Gamzat Gazimagomedov, the importance of professionalizing an art notch with metal on wood in the preservation of this type of folk art is shown. Consideration of the most significant works of G. Gazimagomeddov in the context of the traditional Untsukul ornamental notch art and decorative arts of the Russian Federation as a whole made it possible to identify the stylistic features of the compositional construction of the Avar ornamental notch art in the artist's works, to present his artistic contribution as a treasury of the decorative and applied art of the Russian Federation and Dagestan, and in solving practical problems of preserving and developing the national x art crafts of the country.

Our article argues that non-human animals deserve to be treated as something more than property to be abused, exploited, or expended. Such an examination lies at the heart of green criminology and law—an intersection of which we consider more thoroughly. Drawing upon our respective and collective works, we endeavor to engage in a discussion that highlights the significance of green criminology for law and suggests how law can provide opportunities to further green criminological inquiry. How the law is acutely relevant for constituting the animal goes hand in glove with how humanness and animality are embedded deeply in the construction of law and society. We contend that, when paired together, green criminology and law have the potential to reconstitute the animal as something more than mere property within law, shed light on the anthropocentric logics at play within the criminal justice system, and promote positive changes to animal cruelty legislation. Scholarship could benefit greatly from moving into new lines of inquiry that emphasize "more-than-human legalities". Such inquiry has the power to promote the advocacy-oriented scholarship of animal rights and species justice.

The research field of this paper is the wedding dance event of "K'na", as this takes place by the Arvanites of Greek Thrace, an ethnic group moved to the area from Turkish Thrace in 1923. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether the three components of dance, music and song of Greek traditional dance, as these reflected in the "K'na" dance event amongst the Arvanites ethnic group of Neo Cheimonio (Evros), are related to issues of ethno-cultural identity under the lens of socio-cybernetics. Data was gathered through ethnographic method as this is applied to the study of dance, while its interpretation was based on socio-cybernetics according to Burke's identity control theory. From the data analysis, it is showed that through the "K'na" dance event the Thracian Arvanites of Neo Cheimonio shape and reshape their ethno-cultural identity as a reaction to the input they receive from their environment. Therefore, the "construction" of their identity, as a constant process of self-regulation and internal control, is subjected to the conditions of a cybernetic process.

Data and data management techniques increasingly permeate organizations and the contexts in which they are embedded. We conduct an empirical investigation of Last.fm, an online music discovery platform, with a view to unpacking the work of data and algorithms in the process of categorization. Drawing on Eleanor Rosch and her colleagues, we link the making of categories with the construction of basic objects that function as key filters or registers for perceiving and organizing the world and interacting with it. In contexts such as the ones we have studied, basic objects are made out of data rather than expert or community-based knowledge. In such settings, basic objects work as pervasive reality filters and as the entities on which other organizational objects and categories are built. As they diffuse, such objects and the categories they instantiate become naturalized, increasingly reconfiguring the social order of organizations and their environments as a data order. Once key organizational activities such as the making of objects and categorizing are rearranged by data and algorithms, organizations can no longer be framed as separate from the technologies they deploy.

This article joins the discussion on foreign aid triggered by the rise of multiplicity of emerging donors in international development. Informed by the constructivist framework of analysis, this article evaluates the philosophy and core features of Kazakhstan's chosen development aid model and explains the factors that account for the construction of distinct aid patterns of Kazakh donorship. This article asserts that Kazakhstan embraces a hybrid identity as a foreign aid provider through combining features and characteristics pertaining to both—emerging and traditional donors. On one hand, it discursively constructed its identity as a "development cooperation partner," adopting the relevant discourse of mutual benefit, respect for sovereignty, and non-interference, which places it among those providers that actively associate themselves with the community of "emerging donors." On the other hand, it selectively complies with policies and practices advocated by traditional donors. This study suggests that a combination of domestic and international factors played an important role in shaping Kazakhstan's understanding of the aid-giving practices, and subsequently determined its constructed aid modality.

Based on archival materials and regional historiography, the article describes the main aspects of the daily life of an employee of the Verkhneudinsky city public self-government in 1917. The authors examined important criteria for assessing the quality of life of local government employees during the revolutionary period: the size of the salary, the price of food and basic necessities. The study of the material security of the municipal employee allows us to note the close relationship between the collapse and the construction of a new state apparatus and the trends that are manifested in social policy in the field of remuneration of employees of city government. Based on the above data, the authors give an analysis of the monetary content of civil servants of the Verkhneudinsky city government. Particular attention is paid not only to the size of the salary of a member of the city government and its changes over time under the influence of both internal and external political factors, but also to the possibility of a comfortable existence on their salary.

Non-credit financial organizations (microfinance organizations, credit cooperatives and others) occupy a significant share in the market of financing of the population and small and medium-sized businesses. In recent years, microfinance institutions have been frequently mentioned in connection with scandals related to their activities. Part of the scandals associated with violations in their work, including consumer complaints about illegal actions of individuals, recovered debts of microfinance organizations, some associated with fraudulent schemes for the construction and formation of financial pyramids. A number of other violations in the activities of microfinance organizations have been identified, which requires a more careful approach to the regulation of their activities, both to protect consumer rights and to ensure stable development of the financial sector. The current situation in the global financial market poses new challenges for the Central Bank of Russia to improve the tools to identify and suppress the illegal actions of microfinance organizations. The article provides recommendations for improving the mechanisms of regulation and suppression of violations of microfinance organizations and credit and consumer cooperatives at an early stage.
