This master's thesis presents a study of the group of Catholic ecclesiastics and seminarians exercising their apostolate in France deported during the Second World War. Beyond the sociological aspect addressed in the first part, this work consists in analyzing the reasons for the arrest of a socio-professional category which, in the imagination, unanimously adopts the idea of the National Revolution put forward by Pétain. This work also looks at the journeys in France in internment camps or prisons before joining the concentration camp or prison system of the Reich. More specifically, this study proposes an analysis of the specifics of their deportation in the face of other deportees of repression, in particular through their status as religious, and, later, at liberation, through their memory and their testimonies. ; Ce mémoire de master présente une étude du groupe des ecclésiastiques et séminaristes catholiques exerçant leur apostolat en France déportés durant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. Au-delà de l'aspect sociologique abordé dans une première partie, ce travail consiste à analyser les motifs d'arrestation d'une catégorie socioprofessionnelle qui, dans l'imaginaire, adopte unanimement l'idée de la Révolution nationale avancée par Pétain. Ce travail se penche également sur les parcours en France dans les camps d'internement ou les prisons avant de rejoindre le système concentrationnaire ou carcéral du Reich. Plus spécifiquement, cette étude propose d'analyser les spécificités de leur déportation face aux autres déportés de répression, notamment à travers leur statut de religieux, et, plus tard, à la libération, à travers leur mémoire et leurs témoignages.

In this paper experiences of Danish children born of war will be analysed. The question is to what extent the biological background as a child fathered by a German soldier has been of importance for the child's life course. Firstly, the military context of the occupation will be summarised. Thereafter, information on the Danish women who had relationships with German soldiers will be presented as well as their position within Danish society during and after World War II. This is important in order to understand which options the fraternising women had, in particular when pregnant or mother of a child born of war. Finally, the situation and experiences of the children of German soldiers and local Danish women during the occupation of Denmark will be discussed. In summary, the results indicate a differentiated picture of this group, both in relation to experiences and life situation as well as with regard to attitudes towards their own biological origin and the impact this has had on their life course. ; In diesem Aufsatz sollen Erfahrungen von Kindern deutscher Soldaten und Däninnen analysiert werden, die während der Besatzung Dänemarks im 2. Weltkrieg geboren wurden. Die Frage ist, inwieweit die biologische Herkunft als Kind eines deutschen Soldaten für den Lebensweg von Bedeutung gewesen ist. Zuerst soll der militärische Kontext der Okkupation Dänemarks durch Deutschland kurz zusammengefasst werden. Danach wird auf die dänischen Frauen eingegangen, die eine Beziehung zu einem deutschen Soldaten hatten, sowie deren Situation während und nach dem 2. Weltkrieg. Dies ist wichtig, um zu verstehen, welcher Handlungsrahmen für die fraternisierenden Däninnen vorhanden war, vor allem wenn sie schwanger und Mutter eines Kind des Krieges wurden. Letztlich sollen die Situation und Erfahrungen der Kinder, die von Wehrmachtssoldaten und dänischen Frauen während der Okkupation in Dänemark gezeugt wurden, dargestellt und diskutiert werden. Zusammenfassend zeigen die Ergebnisse ein differenziertes Bild in Bezug auf Erlebnisse und Lebenssituationen dieser Kinder sowie ihre Einstellung zur biologischen Herkunft und deren Bedeutung für ihren Lebensweg.

This study consists in a wide, comprehensive overview of the usages of the poetic form of the sonnet during the Second World War in France, Germany, Great Britain and Italy. Such a process aims at gathering close readings of sonnets, in order to highlight the mechanisms of a blooming form in the midst of a dürftiger Zeit. Many poets resort indeed to the sonnet in order to give a frame to a singular or collective experience of the chaos unleashed throughout Europe.The way these recourses to the sonnet interact with the role of poetry in a time of wide reception and collective crisis will be scrutinized in the light of political commitment, religious or ideological biases and the questioning of the former foundations of Western European culture, all of which can interfere in poetry's proper motives.This work's proposal is that the sonnet can be used as an ordered form, either to set a demiurgic stand in front of the chaotic situation of the continent, or so as to accept it. Neither poetic stances do necessarily lead to a disordering of the form itself ; however, both conservative and rejuvenating usages of the sonnet have in common the ability to deeply question poetry's relation to the world. ; On dresse ici un panorama ample des usages de la forme poétique du sonnet durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, en France, Allemagne, Grande-Bretagne et Italie. Die Beratenden Chirurgen des deutschen Heeres im zweiten Weltkrieg waren Ordinarien für Chirurgie und Chefärzte großer chirurgischer Kliniken. Es konnten ca. 130 Chirurgen ermittelt werden. Sie wurden zum Heeresdienst herangezogen, besaßen aber trotz ihrer militärischen Ränge keine Befehlsgewalt. Die Beratenden Chirurgen wurden bei Heeresgruppen in Frontgebieten und in Wehrkreisen in der Heimat eingesetzt. Sie hatten die Aufgabe, Militärärzte zu beraten, auszubilden, wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zu sammeln und medizin ische Probleme zu lösen. Den Schwerpunkt der Arbeit bilden verschiedenste Verletzungstypen, die der Krieg vor allem im Osten mit sich brachte, deren chirurgische Behandlung sowie die Erarbeitung notwendiger Behandlungsrichtlinien. Tagebuchdurchschriften, Erfahrungsberichte und Sammelberichte der Beratenden Chirurgen bilden die Basis der Arbeit. Der Großteil des Aktenmaterials fand sich im Freiburger Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv sowie in den Bundesarchiven Aachen und Berlin. Weitere Informationen wurden aus Unterlagen des Staatsarchives in Nürnberg und des Archives du Comité International de la Croix-Rouge in Genf gewonnen. ; The consulting surgeons of the German army in the second world war were professors of important surgical institutions. About 130 surgeons could be found. They were called up to the military service, but had no power of command in spite of their military ranks. The consulting surgeons were ordered to work near the front and in their homeland. Their duty was to advise and instruct the military doctors, to collect scientific discoveries and to solve medical problems. War-caused injuries, especially in the east, their medical treatment and the development of necessary guidelines on treatment form the basis of the paper. The prime sources are copies of diaries, experience-reports and collective reports of the consulting surgeons. The main part of the body of work was found in the "Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv" of Freiburg and in the "Bundesarchiv" of Aachen and Berlin. Further informations were collected from the "Nürnberger Staatsarchiv" and the "Archives du Comité International de la Croix-Rouge" in Geneva.

Das westdeutsche öffentlich-rechtliche Fernsehen thematisierte die NS-Vergangenheit sowohl vor als auch nach der Ausstrahlung der NBC-Serie 'Holocaust' im Jahr 1979 in ihren Programmen. Der Essay präsentiert Analysen des Inhalts und der Rezeption von drei besonders erfolgreichen Fernsehsendungen des Zweiten Deutschen Fernsehens (ZDF) aus den 1960er und 1970er Jahren über den Nationalsozialismus und den Zweiten Weltkrieg. Die Sendungen befassen sich mit Themen, die bei den Produzenten wie bei den Adressaten des deutschen Fernsehens und als besonders attraktiv galten: Der bürgerliche Widerstand gegen Hitler, die militärische Geschichte des Zweiten Weltkriegs und der Alltag im nationalsozialistischen Deutschland. Die Diskussionen über die Programminhalte zwischen den Verantwortlichen beim Fernsehen, den Kritikern und den Zuschauern illustrieren, dass die Konstruktion eines kollektiven deutschen Gedächtnisses seit den 1960er Jahren ein komplexer und mehrschichtiger Prozess ist, und insbesondere eine Folge politischer und generationeller Auseinandersetzungen. ; West German public television networks have frequently addressed the Nazi past in their television programs, both before and after broadcast of the NBC miniseries Holocaust in 1979. The essay presents analyses of the content and the reception of three particularly successful TV broadcasts about Nazism and World War II that the Zweite Deutsche Fernsehen (ZDF) first offered its viewers in the 1960s and 1970s. The programs deal with topics that German television executives and audiences found particularly intriguing: the bourgeois resistance against Hitler, the military history of World War II, and everyday life in Nazi Germany. The discussions about the programs between television makers, reviewers, and viewers illustrate that the construction of German collective memories has become a complex and multi-layered process since the 1960s, primarily as a result of political competition and generational strife.

Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die kulturelle Truppenbetreuung Deutschlands und Großbritanniens im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Der Zweite Weltkrieg als Totaler Krieg beanspruchte die Kriegsteilnehmer in vorher nie dagewesener Weise. Auf der einen Seite standen enorme körperliche Strapazen in den Gefechten, auf Märschen oder während des Stellungsbaus auf der anderen Seite das quälende Warten zwischen den Einsätzen. In dieser Zeit der Langeweile prägte das permanente Erwarten, das Ertragen oder Verarbeiten von Entbehrung, Zerstörung und Lebensgefahr den Alltag der Soldaten. Diese übermenschlichen Anforderungen an die körperliche und mentale Leistungsfähigkeit der Soldaten erwiesen sich mit zunehmender Dauer des Krieges als gefahrvolle Belastung für die Kampfmoral und Durchhaltefähigkeit der Kriegsteilnehmer. Hier kam die kulturelle Truppenbetreuung ins Spiel, denn sie war neben der politischen Indoktrination, Militärseelsorge und Militärpsychiatrie ein weiteres Mittel, diesen Anforderungen zu begegnen. Die Arbeit nimmt hierzu drei Untersuchungsebenen in den Blick: Organisation und Konzeption der Truppenbetreuung, die in ihr eingesetzten Künstler sowie die Resonanz der Soldaten. ; This study examines german and british troop entertainment in the Second World War. The Second World War as Total War demands the combatants in a complete new manner. On the one hand there have been enormous hardships in battle, on the march or during the construction of defences. On the other side there was the distressing waiting between the operations. In this time of boredom the everyday life of the soldiers was impressed by permanent expectation just as the treatment of privation, destruction and the danger of life. These demands on the physical and mental efficiency of the soldiers became a heavy burden for keeping up the morale of the combatants. Troop entertainment was one medium beside indoctrination, military psychiatry and religious welfare to take steps against these demands. This study takes a look on three different levels: First on the organisation and intention of troop entertainment in both countries, second on the artists and third on the soldiers and there resonance.

In diesem Aufsatz werden dagegen die schulstrukturellen Prozesses der 30er Jahre, die gemeinsamen Ausgangsbedingungen sowie regionale und lokale Besonderheiten als praegende Faktoren der Schulentwicklung in den beiden deutschen Nachkriegsstaaten beleuchtet. In dieser Perspektive zeigen sich bis Ende der 50er Jahre mehr Kontinuitaeten und Gemeinsamkeiten der deutschen Schulgeschichte als es die amtlichen und programmatischen Texte zu erkennen geben. (DIPF/Orig.) ; So far, the correction of National Socialist school policy and the antagonism between East and West have been the crucial topics not only of the debates on school policy but also of historical and comparative educational research on school development in Germany since 1945. This article, however, focuses on the structural changes in the educational system that occurred in the thirties, on the common starting points, and on regional as well as local peculiarities as factors that determined school development in both parts of Germany until the end of the fifties .This perspective reveals a far greater continuity and congruence in the history of the German school systems than is allowed for in official reports and programmatic outlines. It was not until the sixties that specific features of the educational systems in East and in West Germany generated significant differences and evolved their respective dynamics. (DIPF/Orig.)

This volume represents a contribution by the Commission to the commemoration of the end of the Second World War. In addition, the volume also provides information on projects that have been carried out under the supervision of the Commission, with financial support from the German government, and with the support of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the German and Russian archives involved. The appendix documents the new archive law of the Russian Federation of October 22, 2004, as well as the basic exchange of letters of 1997, which led to the formation of the Joint German-Russian Historical Commission.

International audience ; This article focuses on America's use of sports for diplomatic purposes in the course of the Second World War. From 1941, sport contributed to advancing America's military power by the support given to the war effort on the home front. Drawing on America's experience in past conflicts and military incursions, the US military called on athletes to sign up, not only to serve in national defence but also to promote recruitment. Athletes in the military were showcased in the press as symbols of patriotic virtue. While this domestic media construction was ongoing, the United States also developed the use of basketball in its foreign policy. ; Cet article s'intéresse à l'utilisation des sports américains à des fins diplomatiques lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. À partir de 1941, le sport contribue au développement de la puissance militaire américaine en soutenant l'effort de guerre sur le home front. S'appuyant sur son expérience dans les conflits et incursions militaires passés, l'armée américaine en appelle aux sportifs pour s'engager sous les drapeaux et protéger la sécurité nationale, mais aussi pour soigner la vitrine de recrutement de l'armée à l'intérieur des Etats-Unis. Dans les médias, les sportifs militaires deviennent les parangons des vertus patriotiques. En parallèle de cette construction médiatique intérieure se développe une politique de diffusion extérieure reposant plus spécialement sur le basketball.
