Polarisation as the basis of populism: the case of Mexico ; Polarización como base del populismo: el caso de México

Abstract

The article analyses the particularities of political polarisation in Mexico. The first paragraph sets out the nature of the fight for projects that has characterised the transition to democracy. The second looks at the way in which López Obrador raised this fight and how it became the bearer of the nationalist project as a populist model, based on the political traditions of the old regime. ; El artículo analiza las particularidades de la polarización política en México. En el primer apartado, se expone la naturaleza de la lucha de proyectos que ha caracterizado la transición a la democracia. En el segundo, se analiza la forma en que López Obrador planteó esa lucha y, cómo se convirtió en el portador del proyecto nacionalista constituyendo un modelo populista, basado en las tradiciones políticas del viejo régimen.
