Abstract
Narco-corridos, narco culture, narco soap operas… narco philosophy? The soap opera Escobar, el patrón del mal was a resounding success in Colombia but also a profitable export product, with high ratings in all of the countries in the region in which it was aired. It is said that the series was made so that Colombians who did not know his story would always hate Escobar. But the opposite happened. They wanted ratings and an international story, and they got them. The idea of dignifying the victims and maligning Pablo was just the marketing plan. (Nueva Soc/GIGA)
