La teoria fiscal de la determinacion de los precios explora las consecuencias de politicas fiscales discrecionales sobre las variables macroeconomicas y, en especial, sobre las variables nominales. En concreto, esta teoria cuestion la vision tradicional de que son los factores monetarios los que determinan los niveles de precios y de tipo de cambio, y da una justificacion a las restricciones fiscales en el contexto de una union monetaria. El trabajo revisa los principales resultados de esta literatura y estudia los efectos de perturbaciones fiscales y monetarias en una economia abierta. El estudio tambien presta especial atencion a la forma de resolver los problemas de indeterminacion nominal cuando la politica monetaria se instrumenta con movimientos en los tipos de interes de corto plazo. Th. Noonan, Quand et comment les dirhams sont-ils parvenus pour la première fois en Russie.
Cet article est le premier volet d'une étude plus vaste sur l'importance historique des milliers de pièces islamiques en argent ou dirhams trouvées au Moyen Age dans la Russie d'Europe et les régions avoisinantes. Dans le présent article, on soutient que l'arrivée des dirhams en Russie d'Europe a commencé vers 800 av. J.-C, ainsi qu'il a été établi par Richard Fasmer (Vasmer) dans les années 20 et 30 du XXe siècle. Cependant la majeure partie de l'article tente de prouver que les premiers dirhams à pénétrer en Russie provenaient du Proche-Orient et qu'ils avaient été véhiculés en Europe orientale par la route du Caucase et de la Caspienne. Il n'existe pas de preuve numismatique que les dirhams soient parvenus en Russie par l'Asie Centrale ou qu'ils en soient originaires, à l'époque en question.

En este artículo presentaré un contrapunto entre el posmarxismo y la teoría crítica de la sociedad. Estudiando el pensamiento de Rancière, pretendo recuperar un momento de verdad en las críticas posmarxistas a ciertos usos marxianos del concepto de totalidad, que estarían transidos por una aspiración utópica (y posiblemente totalitaria) ligada a la pretensión de suprimir toda instancia de conflictividad política (y por ende toda diferencia) en la sociedad, mediante la construcción de un sujeto-objeto idéntico omniabarcador (el proletariado o la humanidad emancipada). Mostraré, empero, que planteos como los de Adorno y Postone pueden prescindir de cualquier lastre utópico y totalista en la formulación de la crítica del capital. Esto permitirá indicar algunas vías por las que el proyecto de la teoría crítica puede formularse de modo consecuente en el contexto contemporáneo, signado por la "crisis" teórica y política del marxismo. ; In this paper I intend to present a counterpoint between Post-marxism and social critical theory. By studying the thought of Rancière, I will point out that Post-marxist criticisms towards some aspects of the Marxist concept of totality are valid. Certain interpretation of the concept of totality (as an emancipatory ideal that could be achieved by an identical subject-object of history) may indeed lead to the danger of totalitarianism, as Rancière and others have appointed. Yet, I will also try to show that the contributions of Adorno and Postone do not lead to a potentially totalitarian formulation of the emancipatory project. This may signal towards a formulation of critical theory that could be consistently sustained in the contemporary context of "crisis of Marxism".

AbstractIn 'The Rani of Sirmur: An Essay in Reading the Archives', Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak offered a literary analysis of British records to demonstrate the inextricability of language from the colonial/imperial project's goal of world domination. Honing her arguments on the threat of a Himalayan queen (rani) to 'become sati' (i.e. immolate herself), Spivak interpreted the event as representative of the plight of subalterns and of 'third world women' in particular. However, a close reading of the records reveals profound discrepancies between Spivak's interpretation and conditions that existed in and around the kingdom at the time. This article contextualizes the rani's story by supplementing archival sources with folk traditions, local histories, and recent research on sati and Rajput women. It shows that the rani was actually an astute ruler, similar to her peers in the West Himalayan elite, and that her threat of suicide resulted from reasons that go beyond an alleged attempt at recovering agency from the dual oppressions of patriarchal indignity and an invasive superpower. The discourses about sati in contemporary texts are also investigated, revealing a considerable overlap in South Asian and European views of sati among Himalayan elites in turn-of-the-nineteenth-century northwest India.

Dieser Band beleuchtet den Avantgardismus im frühen 20. Jahrhundert anhand der Fotografie, des Tanzes, surrealistischer Gruppierungen etc., um sich dann dessen Weiterentwicklungen bis in die jüngste Vergangenheit zuzuwenden. Die Beiträger_innen, darunter Theoretiker und Künstlerinnen aus New York, lassen die kulturellen Differenzen zwischen Europa und den USA verstehbar werden und zeigen, dass Avantgarde und politischer Aktivismus aufs Engste zusammengehören.

El presente trabajo defiende la denominada tesis de la neutralidad valorativa en la teoría del Derecho en el sentido de que, más allá de puros valores epistémicos, aquélla no involucra valor moral o político alguno. En orden a defender tal tesis, se abordará, en primer lugar, el significado de su formulación clásica en la teoría del Derecho de los siglos XIX y XX. En segundo lugar, se atenderá a las críticas hacia la formulación clásica que tienen como punto de mira el papel de los valores epistémicos. En último lugar, centrándose en la actual discusión en el seno de la teoría jurídica, se acometerá el rol de los valores prácticos y la cuestión de si es posible o no seguir manteniendo la tesis de que la teoría del Derecho puede quedar libre de valores morales y políticos. ; This paper argues so-called value neutrality thesis in Legal Theory in the sense that, beyond epistemic values, it does not involve moral or political values. In order to defend this thesis, it will deal first with the meaning of the classical formulation in Legal Theory of the 19th and 20th centuries. Secondly, it will tackle criticisms of the classical formulation having as spotlight the role of epistemic values. Finally, focusing on the current discussion within the Legal Theory, it shall be considered the role of practical values and the question whether it is possible or not continue the thesis that the Legal Theory can be free of moral and political values

Résumé. — Dans un article précédent, nous avons étudié le mouvement d'une particule brownienne (masse M) dans un fluide quantique (particules de masse m telle que m /M = γ² <<1). Nous avons dérivé une équation générale de transport pour la fonction de distribution des moments φ(P) de la particule lourde. Cette équation se présente comme un développement formel en série du paramètre y et se ramène en première approximation à l'équation de Fokker-Planck. Ici nous analysons plus particulièrement le problème de la convergence de cette équation de transport générale. L'examen des premières corrections au terme de Fokker-Planck met en évidence des termes d'ordre
[formule] où kTq représente l'énergie de localisation de la particule
lourde due aux interactions avec le fluide. Il en résulte que pour des températures T telles que T < γ² Tq la convergence de l'équation de base n'est plus assurée et la théorie usuelle du mouvement Brownien n'est plus valable.

As a reflection of the ecological pressures associated with rapid modernization and globalization, the environment has become an enduring theme of public debate and protest in Latin America. Over the past decade, scholars have made increasing connections between such debate and a range of questions related to citizenship. Meanwhile, a discourse of 'environmental citizenship' has a growing prevalence in policy across the region. While these developments echo similar political and academic trends in the Global North, the Latin American context demands a unique set of theoretical and methodological approaches to studying the intersection of ecology and citizenship, sensitive to the specific historical, cultural, and ecological character of the region. We outline a research agenda spanning questions of land, identity and citizenship; environmental justice and de-colonization; social subjectivity and the state; urban natures and citizens; and the materiality/subjectivity of nature. This array of approaches points to a more acute conceptualization of citizenship, both in terms of its understanding of politics and its treatment of ecology; it also offers a point of view that recognizes citizens and natures as dynamic realities, which mutually condition each other in a sphere of ongoing contest. Resumen: Medio ambiente y ciudadanía en América Latina: un nuevo paradigma para la teoría y prácticaComo reflexión de los impactos ecológicos asociados con la modernización rápida y la globalización, el medio ambiente se ha transformado en un tema de debate y protesta constante en Latinoamérica. Durante la última década, un número creciente de académicos ha observado conexiones entre tal debate y una gama de asuntos relacionados con la ciudadanía. Al mismo tiempo, un discurso de 'ciudadanía ambiental' ha alcanzado una prevalencia notable en las políticas públicas de la región. Aunque estos acontecimientos reflejan de una tendencia política e intelectual similar ocurrente en el norte global, el contexto latinoamericano nos exige un conjunto especial de enfoques teóricos y metodológicos para examinar la intersección de ecología y ciudadanía, con una sensibilidad hacia el carácter histórico, cultural y ecológico de la región. Proponemos una agenda de investigación que abarque los temas de tierra, identidad y ciudadanía; justicia ambiental y de-colonización; subjetividad social y el estado; naturaleza y ciudadanía en las urbes; y la materialidad/ subjetividad de la naturaleza. Esta serie de planteamientos nos lleva hacia una conceptualización más nítida de la ciudadanía, tanto en su compresión de la política como en su consideración de la ecología; nos ofrece además una mirada que registra al ciudadano y a la naturaleza como realidades dinámicas, que se condicionan mutuamente en un ámbito de contienda perpetua.

Building on queer theory, on formative and current discourses of child and youth care (CYC), and on feminist and other ethics of care theorizing, this paper applies queer analytics to CYC by considering how desire, identity, sexuality, theory, and politics may be taken up within CYC.

AbstractHeteronormativity structures biomedical justifications for continuing surgical interventions on infants' genitals that are cosmetic and medically unnecessary. It would seem, then, that queer theory is uniquely suited to challenge this continuing practice. This article takes up the question of what queer theory can do for intersex, with particular focus on queer temporality. I consider the example of "hypospadias repair," a surgical intervention justified by invoking restrictive norms of what the penis should look like and be able to do at some point in the future. In contrast, intersex activists invoke post-medical futures, structured by norms of consent and bodily integrity. While queer approaches to temporality might challenge the notion of intervening surgically on an infant for the sake of the future adult the child will become, might this queer critique also disrupt the ability of activist individuals and organizations to invoke other narratives of the future, including ones where adults have not had irreversible surgeries as infants? I will ask whether queer theories of temporality and futurity can challenge medical practices that compromise consent and bodily integrity. Can queer theory question surgery as a queer moment and help us to conceptualize all bodily differences within a more expansive frame, without reinstating heteronormative narratives of futurity?
