We draw lessons from existing work and our own analysis on the effects of parental leave and other interventions aimed at aiding families. The outcomes of interest are female employment, gender gaps in earnings and fertility. We begin with a discussion of the historical introduction of family policies ever since the end of the nineteenth century and then turn to the details regarding family policies currently in effect across high-income nations. We sketch a framework concerning the effects of family policy to motivate our country- and micro-level evidence on the impact of family policies on gender outcomes. Most estimates of the impact of parental leave entitlement on female labor market outcomes range from negligible to weakly positive. The verdict is far more positive for the beneficial impact of spending on early education and childcare.

The present study aims to investigate the adjustment of school teachers at different levels. Using random sampling technique 290 teachers from the primary, secondary and higher secondary level in different systems of education, namely, government, government aided and private schools are chosen. The adjustment Scale A.K.P. Sinha and R.P. Singh have been used to assess the adjustment for the present study. The data collected is subjected to statistical analysis, namely, mean, standard deviation, 't'- test, 'F'- ratio, Results show that a there is no significant difference found out between the samples of Gender, Type of Management, Level of Teaching, Age, Year of Teaching Experience and Marital Status towards adjustment of school teachers further it shows that there is significant difference between locality of school and type of family towards adjustment of school teachers.

The aim of the paper is to discuss the philosophical and historical sources and concepts of the antinomy of contemporary professionalism. A professional is somebody distinct from a craftsman and a specialist. Professionalism has its roots in the medieval phenomenon of a profession, which refers to the category of an occupation, liberal arts as well as the beginning of universities and a characteristic vision of education. In the 19th century, the understanding of a profession was altered. The development of science and technology, which runs in parallel with the endorsement of materialistic objectivism, resulting in the total separation of reality from the realm of values, contributed to the fact that professionalism was cracking at its seams. In consequence, the contemporary professionalism is endangered by the possibility of losing its essence. The dangers are the following: commercialisation, corporationalism, esoterism, politicalisation, bureaucratization, technocracy and barbarisation.

Characteristics of a nation are reflected in its people. Character values need to be implemented by society in everyday life because with characteristic that match with personality of nation, make us become civilized nation. Education is a way to instill the values of character to some people, especially learners who are the next generation of the nation. In each subject, character values can be applied, not least in math learning. Moreover, the planting of this character value is a government program that is illustrated and implemented in the curriculum used in Indonesia today. Implementation of character values in the process of learning mathematics can bring socio mathematical norms in it. In this article, the authors discuss the feminist movement obstacles in Saudi Arabia and the mechanism for decreasing them. Therefore, this paper attempted to achieve two objectives. First, a prospective study was conducted through a social survey of 130 women in leadership positions in government. Using a purposive sample technique, the private sector was focused on in the following ministries: Education, social affairs, health and the Shura Council. This survey was followed by two main questions: What are obstacles to the feminist movement in Saudi Arabia; and what are the mechanisms for decreasing this obstacles and activating a leadership role and effective participation in society for Saudi women to achieve the national objectives? By applying SPSS software, the questionnaires were then verified to test the indications of reliability and validity, which, in turn, will ensure the validity and reliability of the answers regarding empowering Saudi Women.

In the decades following World War II, the Toronto School Board was subjected to the Cold War anti-communist fear that permeated political, religious, and educational concerns in Toronto. Despite this continuous anxiety, communists were able to hold positions on the board and enact influence upon schools. Communists on the Board exercised a certain degree of influence in the Board's decision making and continued to be a voice of opposition among increasingly anti-communist members until 1951. The politics of the Toronto School Board occurred within a larger context of communist anxiety related to education. Throughout the Board's changing membership and elections during the 1940s and into the early 1950s, The Globe and Mail covered its policies and campaigns through an often anti-communist lens, reflecting the increasingly hostile public opinion towards communists in Toronto's government and public life.

What lessons can political science classes borrow from the humanities? This paper presents the results of a multi-year study on teaching about Asia as part of a general education program. Given the challenges of meeting common learning outcomes while also teaching discipline-specific lessons, political science courses often underperformed in assessments when compared to benchmark expectations. While our initial conclusion—that a greater focus on multimodal assignments would promote deeper learning and reflection—proved unfounded, explicitly emphasizing students' reflection on their own process of democratic engagement, in comparison to that of their counterparts in Asia, did seem to address the shortcomings of the previous approaches by giving students context and guidance in their understanding of how democracy works at home and abroad. Data from reflective essays, collected over two years, provide evidence for this finding.

It is common knowledge that the self-declared Socialist state that is Cuba has entered unchartered territories in education. There is little research, however, on the far-reaching international resonance of the Cuban educational system, with regard to relations with both the existing community of socialist states and with Asia, Africa and Latin America. On the 19th and 20th of April, 2017, a research workshop, 'The Cuban Educational System: Entanglements, Influences and Transfers', took place in Havana. The information society associated with the massification of new technologies is provoking a social change that is considered revolutionary by numerous scholars and researchers from different disciplines of the Social Sciences. Such a revolution would already be affecting all aspects of human activity, from politics to economy through to culture, social relationships, leisure time, or education. Geography, as a social science, is not left out of this new situation. Rather it is deeply influenced by the so-called Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), not only in its methodology and work techniques but also in relation to the new epistemological and sociological questions that the new information society entails. From this last point of view mainly Social Geography faces the new challenge that now is happening at least in part in a new place, the cyberspace or virtual space.
