"Superb case study of plantation labor after the abolition of slavery examines the Hacienda San Francisco Solano de Palto in the Pisco Valley. According to the author, peasants involved in cotton production did not submit to the usually assumed forms of domination and exploitation. Rather, they adopted a variety of strategies including long-term labor contracts and direct negotiations with landowners that led to the more widespread use of yanocanaje in this region. An illuminating, carefully constructed study of the plantation records of Hacienda Palto first made available during the agrarian reform campaign of the Velasco government in the early 1970s. Der Beitrag analysiert die Subjektivität der soziologisch kaum beleuchteten Wissensarbeiter*innen in der Digitalwirtschaft. Mittels 40 Interviews sowie einer Diskursanalyse werden distinktive Subjektformen von sogenannten "tech workers" identifiziert, die auf ein Selbst jenseits von "Künstlerkritik" und "Arbeitskraftunternehmer" hindeuten. Die neuen Subjektivierungsformen schlagen sich nieder in: 1) einem konfliktiven Gesellschaftsbild, welches durch Achtsamkeit vis-à-vis sozialen Ungleichheiten und einer Rückkehr der Sozial- kritik strukturiert wird, 2) Achtsamkeit vis-à-vis psycho-sozialen und ökologischen Ressourcen, 3) einem Lebensstil des Allgemeinen, der gewöhnliche und inklusive Geschmäcker mobilisiert. Diese drei Subjektivierungsformen signalisieren neue normative Orientierungen und eine Absetzbewegung von den Kräftefeldern der Künstlerkritik und des Arbeitskraftunternehmers. Gleichzeitig weist der Beitrag darauf hin, dass dieser Subjektivierungsprozess mit neuen Machtformen und -verhältnissen einhergeht. Neben der Formation eines weiteren Geistes des Kapitalismus wird die Entstehung von moralischen Klassengrenzen kritisch diskutiert. Das achtsam-moralische Selbst der tech workers wird als ambivalenter Subjektivierungsprozess interpretiert, dem Emanzipationspotential wie auch Distinktion und Herrschaftsreproduktion innewohnen.

Der Beitrag widmet sich Fremdheitserfahrungen einheimischer KundInnen in migrantischen Lebensmittelgeschäften in Wien. Anhand von 31 leitfadengestützten Interviews mit österreichischen KundInnen ohne Migrationshintergrund und 15 Go-Alongs (Begleitungen von KundInnen bei ihrem Einkauf) untersuchen wir, wie Fremdheit thematisiert, erlebt und wahrgenommen wird und wie diese Fremdheitserfahrungen im Zusammenhang mit symbolischen Grenzziehungen zwischen Mehrheit und Minderheit(en) stehen. Als relevant erweist sich dieses Thema vor dem Hintergrund aktueller politischer und wissenschaftlicher Debatten um das Integrationspotenzial migrantischer Ökonomien. Insbesondere Geschäfte und Restaurants gelten als interethnische Kontaktzonen, die den Abbau von Vorurteilen fördern und zu mehr Aufgeschlossenheit und Offenheit gegenüber »fremden« Kulturen beitragen. In unserem Artikel beschreiben wir vier Modi der Fremdheitserfahrung, die wiederum mit unterschiedlichen Arten symbolischer Grenzen korrespondieren. Während die bedrohliche Fremdheit sowie die vergnügliche Fremdheit mit einer Verfestigung von Grenzen zwischen »dem Eigenen« und »dem Fremden« einhergehen, zeigt sich bei der verunsichernden Fremdheit eine Perforation und bei der alltäglichen Fremdheit eine Verwischung von symbolischen Grenzen.

In this paper, we analyze the relation between the museum and the notion of identity through a study of patrimonial logics which aim at forging an official collective memory. We rely on a study of the mediation function of central museums in building a national identity through an endeavor to shape a "nation-memory" ("mémoire-nation", Pierre Nora) which draws on peasant sources. The stake of this study lies in its ability to bring to light institutional forms of patrimony in the era of nationalist ideologies, of the formation and consolidation of the nation state. In which ways is the relationship between patrimony and national identity embodied in the scientific patrimonial projects of the museums? In trying to answer this question, we set out to explore how the patrimony is exploited in order to foster political projects. Addressing the issue of central museums as a kind of "surface" where the collective identity is "scratched" will help us shed lights on the metamorphoses of a "localizing memory" ("mémoire localisante", M.M. Carruthers) mobilized to build a shared identity.

'Anwendungen der Gentechnik in Landwirtschaft und Nahrungsmittelproduktion treffen in Österreich auf eine breite Front des öffentlichen Widerstands. In diesem Beitrag beschäftigen wir uns mit der Frage, inwiefern dieser Widerstand gegen die so genannte 'grüne' Gentechnik über Nutzen und Risikoabwägungen hinaus auch als Ausdruck regionaler und kultureller Identität verstanden werden kann. Basierend auf der Analyse von Diskussionen mit verschiedenen Gruppen der österreichischen Bevölkerung sowie von Dokumenten zu politischen und wirtschaftlichen Initiativen zeigt unser Beitrag, wie sich Bevölkerung und Initiativen auf eine gemeinsam geteilte Identitätskonstruktion beziehen: Österreich als qualitätsbewusstes Land, für dessen Selbstverständnis Tradition, Kleinteiligkeit und biologische Landwirtschaft von großer Bedeutung sind. Indem 'grüne' Gentechnik häufig mit Industrialisierung, Globalisierung und Amerikanisierung assoziiert wird, wird sie zur Bedrohung dieser lokalen Identität.' (Autorenreferat)

Es werden fünf alternative ordnungspolitische Systeme für Industriegesellschaften der Gegenwart unterschieden und zu zwei Typen als gegensätzliche Gesellschaftssysteme einander gegenübergestellt (Marktwirtschaft - Zentralverwaltungswirtschaft). Am Beispiel des Wandels der Sozialstruktur und an der Urbanisierung wird untersucht, welche Strukturen diese gegensätzlichen Systeme hervorbringen, worin sie einander ähnlich sind und wie sie sich unterscheiden. Die These ist, daß weltweit eine Transformation der Sozial- und Siedlungsstrukturen festgestellt werden kann, die teils bewirkend, teils davon bewirkt, von kulturellen Umstellungen begleitet werden. Eine weitere These ist, daß lokale (nationale) Traditionen und politische Systeme den Wandlungsprozeß der Strukturen und Kulturen beeinflussen (beschleunigen, bremsen), der weltweit in unterschiedlichem historischen Tempo abläuft. The current article is done with the aim of determining the effect of political factors level on nationalism consumption of Sanandaj county consumers in 133. The method of this article is exploratory - measurement. The objective society, consist of Sanandaj Islamic Azad and governmental university experts in the field of marketing that is a kind of limited society and all society members. The information collection tool includes a substantiative questionnaire with the Likret spectrum. For analyzing data, the SPSS statistic software and for surveying the level of criterion and precaution effective variables, the Nonparametric Binomial test was used. The analysis results showed that the effective political indexes on nationalism consumption development includes: the boycott position, the animus of governmental undertakers, revision in fiscal rules, the aperture level of country borders, the economic handicap of government in the political conferences and the prophecy of cultural system and media, that all these six indexes (factors) have an effect on nationalism consumption.

In Australia, a 'tribe' of white, middle-class, progressive professionals is actively working to improve the lives of Indigenous people. This book explores what happens when well-meaning people, supported by the state, attempt to help without harming. 'White anti-racists' find themselves trapped by endless ambiguities, contradictions, and double binds - a microcosm of the broader dilemmas of postcolonial societies. These dilemmas are fueled by tension between the twin desires of equality and difference: to make Indigenous people statistically the same as non-Indigenous people (to 'close the gap') while simultaneously maintaining their 'cultural' distinctiveness. This tension lies at the heart of failed development efforts in Indigenous communities, ethnic minority populations and the global South.
