In diesem Beitrag erfolgt eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Konzept der Australian Apprenticeship hinsichtlich seiner Entwicklung im australischen Berufsbildungssystem und seiner strukturellen Veränderungen in den vergangenen Jahren, wobei dem Aspekt der Binnendifferenzierung besonderes Interesse gilt. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird die Frage diskutiert, welchen Stellenwert die Australian Apprenticeship im Berufsbildungssystem wie auch im Bildungssystem einnimmt und welche Zusammenhänge sich diesbezüglich mit der Ausdifferenzierung des Systems ergeben. "This chapter therefore investigates whether or not labour market entry differs for Germans and non-Germans who have recently completed an apprenticeship, thus enabling comparisons to be made regarding chances for labour market integration bet groups living in Germany, in contrast to their training firm.; With labour market participation widely recognised as playing a key role in the integration of migrants already living in Germany, the proceeding analysis shows that high regional unemployment rate significantly lowers the chances of integration and of doing an apprenticeship in a rural region. Furthermore in economically prosperous regions, where GDP is rising, chances for those finished apprenticeships are better, although a high level of GDP does not necessarily mean good job prospects. Therefore, regional determinants, in particular labour market situation and type of region, matter in individual labour market success. These results provide a new and broader insight into the labour market integration non-German nationals. We can see that Turks and other young migrants have a significantly lower probability of being employed after apprenticeship compared to young Germans, while EU15 migrants and those from the former Yugoslavia do not differ significantly from German nationals if other variables are controlled for." In einer im Rahmen des DFG-Schwerpunktprogramms BiQua geförderten Studie wurden auf der Basis von Conceptual-Change- und Cognitive-Apprenticeship-Ansätzen verschiedene Fortbildungen durchgeführt, die Grundschullehrkräfte für das Unterrichten im naturwissenschaftlichen Lernbereich qualifizieren und motivieren sollten. In einem quasi-experimentellen Kontrollgruppen-Design wurde dabei der Grad der tutoriellen Unterstützung in den Fortbildungsgruppen variiert. U.a. wurde der Frage nachgegangen, ob sich an den oben genannten Ansätzen orientierte Fortbildungen auch in besseren Lernzuwächsen der Schüler der fortgebildeten Lehrkräfte niederschlagen. Dazu wurden die Lehrkräfte gebeten, nach der Fortbildung das Thema "Schwimmen und Sinken" selbst zu unterrichten. Vor und nach dem Unterricht wurde das themenbezogene Verständnis der Schüler erfasst. Im Beitrag werden die Anlage der Studie, der eingesetzte Schülerleistungstest und Ergebnisse aus Mehrebenenanalysen (1039 Kinder in 46 Klassen) zu Effekten der Fortbildungsgruppen auf die Lernzuwächse der Kinder berichtet und diskutiert.

Both on-the-job and off-the-job learning situations are crucial to provide high quality apprenticeship training, so that training workshops can also fulfil a crucial role in providing modern and effective training of apprentices. The shape of such training workshops needs to be revised, however, changing from the pure training of basic manual skills towards promoting the acquisition of work-process knowledge. Three case studies were carried out in large-scale companies and the results show how each has designed appropriate learning environments for their apprentices.

This chapter aims at assessing the Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) youth in Germany, where one finds a strong institutionalized apprenticeship system, a relatively high stratification of the educational system and a gendered vocational education and training system. The dependent variable is the occupational status at the age of 30 measured by the International Socio-Economic Index of Occupational Status. The independent variables are the socio-economic background information and the NEET patterns or respectively the cumulative NEET length. Germany constitutes an interesting case when looking at the longitudinal patterns of youths who experience NEET periods, for several reasons. In international comparison, the connection between education system and the labour market in Germany is quite structured.

Die automatisierte Inhaltsanalyse wird auch in der Journalismusforschung zunehmend genutzt, um Texte (teil)-automatisiert zu analysieren. Sie hat damit zu einer Methodeninnovation im Fach beigetragen, die jedoch selten kritisch diskutiert wird. Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über Chancen und Grenzen der automatisierten Inhaltsanalyse in Forschung und Lehre. Er argumentiert für die Vereinbarkeit der Methode mit klassischen Journalismustheorien, weist aber auch auf Grenzen, etwa fehlende Analysetiefe oder mangelnde Validität, hin. Auch für die Vermittlung von Computational Methods werden Probleme offengelegt und Lösungsansätze auf organisatorischer, technischer und didaktischer Ebene diskutiert. Insgesamt bedeutet die automatisierte Inhaltsanalyse für die Journalismusforschung keine Neujustierung, sondern eine Erweiterung - sofern Grenzen der Methode beachtet werden. Anders sieht es bei der Lehre aus, wo eine verstärkte Vermittlung von Computational Methods gefordert wird.
