Praktisches Lernen als Beitrag zur Bildungsreform ; Practical learning - a contribution to educational reform

Abstract

Als Maßnahme der inneren Schulreform wird praktisches Lernen in Schulpolitik und Schulpädagogik zunehmend beliebter: Als allgemeines Unterrichtsprinzip soll es einerseits die steckengebliebene Vereinheitlichung der Vielfalt schulischer Bildungsgänge weiter vorantreiben. Angesichts der fortschreitenden Mediatisierung von Erfahrung soll damit andererseits ein sinnerfülltes Schullernen (wieder) möglich werden. Diese doppelte Aufgabe wird allerdings häufig durch einen gutartigen Arbeitsbegriff zu lösen versucht, bei dem die gesellschaftlichen Voraussetzungen sowie bildungs- und schultheoretischen Problemaspekte nur unzureichend berücksichtigt werden. Daraus folgen Widersprüche zwischen Reformtheorie und -praxis, die an ausgewählten Beispielen im Detail zu untersuchen sind. Dabei wird zugleich ein Verständnis praktischen Lernens ansatzweise entwickelt, das die Erfahrung von Entfremdung und des Verlustes einer sinnvollen Lebensordnung nicht verdrängt, sondern bewußt aufnimmt. (DIPF/Text übernommen) ; As a measure of internal school reform, practical learning enjoys ever greater popularity in school politics and school pedagogics: on the one hand, as general instructional principle, it is meant to enhance the stagnating standardization of the variety of school types. On the other hand, in view of the continuing decrease of concrete experience, it is to enable once again meaningful learning in school. However, we encounter diverse attempts to solve this twofold task by means of a naive concept of work which neglects both the social preconditions and the problematic aspects of educational theory as well as school theory. This leads to contradictions between reform theory and reform practice which are examined in detail in selected examples. Furthermore, a preliminary conception of practical learning is developed which does not suppress but, rather, deliberately comprises the experience of alienation and of the loss of a meaningful order in life.
