Abstract

This article deals with the formation of the Aragonese identity ideology, through the celebration of the reconquest of Zaragoza in 1118, a military operation led by the king Alfonso I, who allowed him to snatch the city of Zaragoza from the Almoravides. To this end, a link was established between identity and memory as part of a phenomenon in which some Aragonese politicians felt the need to immortalize through the use of heritage made like this. The analysis has as its starting point the tensions that cross the project for the execution of a space for the commemoration of the VIII centenary of the conquest of the Aragonese capital and its putting in value, as well as its final execution that today we can continue to contemplate in Zaragoza, and its relationship with other public sculptures that built the collective Aragonese imaginary at the turn of the century. ; En este artículo, se aborda la formación del ideario de la identidad aragonesa, a través de la celebración de la reconquista de Zaragoza en 1118, operación militar encabezada por el rey Alfonso I, que le permitió arrebatar la ciudad a los almorávides. Para ello, se estableció un vínculo entre identidad y memoria como parte de un fenómeno en el que algunos políticos aragoneses sintieron la necesidad de inmortalizar hechos como este a través del uso del patrimonio. El análisis tiene como punto de partida las tensiones que cruzan el proyecto para la ejecución de un espacio para la conmemoración del VIII centenario de la conquista de la capital aragonesa, de su puesta en valor, así como su ejecución final, que hoy en día podemos seguir contemplando en Zaragoza, y su relación con otras esculturas públicas que construyeron el imaginario colectivo aragonés en el cambio de siglo.
