The economic viability of a Palestinian state
In: Journal of Palestine studies: a quarterly on Palestinian affairs and the Arab-Israeli conflict, Band 19, Heft 2/74, S. 3-28
Abstract
In examining the question of the economic viability of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza, this paper demonstrates that economic viability, at acceptable levels of income and with reasonable prospects for further growth, is not only possible but necessary for underpinning a just and durable peace in the Middle East. The author discusses three substantial problems of adjustment in a post-settlement period (problems of demography, of non-renewable resources, and of economic structure) before proposing an economic development program to deal with them.
